kc and will met in the early 90’s in the high desert of southern utah, while working for a wilderness therapy program for youth at risk. it was love at first sight and they have maintained a close friendship ever since. individually, their career paths have ventured from architecture to law to secondary education administration and beyond - but the love of building has always been a consistent thread that has tied them together. red dirt design + build has been a dream long deferred, now come to fruition.
kc kurtz
kc is a carpenter of 25+ years with a design school education (MArch from nc state). he’s also a licensed general contractor who spent 5+ years as an alamance county building inspector. above all else, he’s a maker - a curator of fun, connection and beauty.
will bettmann
will is a polymath builder with a law degree and a wealth of experience working with kids of all ages, from preschool to college. his career path has been rich + varied, and he has reached a pinnacle with red dirt. he recently completed an incredible tiny house, from start to finish, and is eager to launch into the next.
